The Do's and Don'ts of Skincare

Skin Care Do’s and Don'ts

There are a lot of do’s and don'ts in the skin care world and how to properly take care of your skin. However, everyone’s skin is different. The first and most important step is finding what will work for your skin and maintaining a daily routine with those products. Now, what exactly are the correct ways of skin care?

DO’S

DO wash your face everyday-

Very simple, but also forgotten about. Cleansing your face at the beginning and end of each day is extremely important to remove all the dirt and excess oils that accumulated throughout the day.

DO double cleanse after wearing makeup-

This is a must, especially for all of the makeup wearers and lovers out there. Double cleansing will make sure you remove makeup so it doesn’t clog your pores, causing a breakout.

DO exfoliate 1-2x a week-

In last week’s blog, we discussed how often and the importance of exfoliating. Getting rid of the dead skin cells will improve the texture of your skin as well as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

DO invest your time with your at home routine-

Finding the right products for your skin can take time and patience. Not every product is going to be your best friend and that’s okay. Skin care is trial and error and nothing happens overnight. Stick with it and you will see the progress!

DON’TS

DON’T wash your face more than twice a day-

Washing your face more than twice a day will strip the natural oils causing dehydration.

DON’T skip SPF every morning-

Sunscreen is an absolute must in your daily morning routine. The daily use of SPF can reduce your risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma by about 40 percent, and lower your melanoma risk by 50 percent. It also helps prevent premature skin aging.

DON’T skip moisturizer because you have oily skin-

Even though you may have oily skin, it doesn't mean you should skip serums or moisturizers to hydrate the skin.

DON’T use a body scrub on your face-

The skin on your body is much thicker than the skin on your face. Using a body scrub can damage that skin.

Some of these are fairly simple, but also very important to be aware of when nailing down a routine that works for you. There are many do’s and don’ts of the skincare world, but here are just a few to help you get started.
